PARGAL is a company in Bogotá, Colombia. Our mission is driven by the belief that the functionality of Cargo Bikes makes them a powerful tool of cultural and social transformation
The project formally began in 2015, where Daniel started alone, his leading partner began working with him a year later, his father Fernando Pardo, with whom he began manufacturing and designs the first bicycles.
Pargal has an innovative idea to design, performance, manufacturing, and commercialization cargo bikes, tricycles, and quadricycles. It can be acquired by any person that wants to change their transport way and will not have problems if they need to take up their things. Even better these vehicles have the manner to transport one or more persons, and it can be useful to get the children to the school, pick up someone in a job, go with pets to the park or just drive in pair around the city.
Besides, Pargal wants to dabble in Messenger service companies that want to change their vehicles with this innovative idea.
Pargal was born in 2012, when the founder Daniel Pardo felt the desire to start a new entrepreneurship, he says: “I was working in an oil field, and I was clear that I wanted to undertake, I was looking for something related to my profession and my passions, something efficient and very functional with a lot of potential in the market. I am a Mechanical Engineer, at that time, I was very passionate about the bicycle, I had visited Holland, and I had seen that the bicycle was a vehicle that was used by all activities. One day, researching and viewing photos I found a design of a cargo bike and I saw that manufacturing was not difficult and did not require too much investment, although manufacturing was not very easy for anyone”. It was how this idea began, and nowadays, it offers a new option of displacement for people. Also, it invites logistics companies to change their fuel vehicles for sustainable vehicles.
Daniel and his dad are aware that the idea is contributing to society, and they genuinely believe that they are doing it from three main points:
- Environmental: With the help of these vehicles, it is possible to replace the most trips within the city that are made by motorcycle or even by car currently, it is not necessary to worry about the space to carry big things, since the design are large enough to replace a trunk, in this way, it contributes to the reduction of burning fossil fuels and the carbon footprint. Also, the manufacturing process uses less energy and pollutes much less than a car. Since its full operation in 2015, Pargal has helped to reduce CO2 emissions in 4 tons. By 2020, it expects to reduce 3 tons of CO2 in the air replacing motorcycles and cars with its sustainable vehicles.
-Economic: Acquire a sustainable vehicle is more affordable for people, and its operation is less expensive.
- Social: When people drive these kinds of vehicles, it is possible to think that it helps the people health since they are doing physical activity that brings body benefits to themselves. Additionally, by being an open vehicle, which moves around the city with fewer restrictions, helps human interactions be more significant; therefore, social relationships will improve the people lifestyle. These vehicles have generated a high impact on 30 families and four companies.
This novelty has been profitable for the company, as the product has had good and positive comments in the Colombian market because these vehicles are newfangled and practice.
Daniel Said: “I could say that we are leading in the market, with just 60 sold units. We note that the sector has had a good response and according to in the streets, the people, who see these bikes, they have more interest in it”. Parga is interested not only in the people buy too in the companies. Daniel comments, “some positive is logistic firms have started to watch our idea like a workable, and it can compare with their automotive park.” In this extent, Pargal imagines at least 50% of the automotive park of firms are motorcycles, that could replace for a cargo bike.
Pargal has billed around 150'000,000 COP and expects to have a revenue of around 240'000,000 COP by 2020. Focusing on the Colombian industrial market, they are hoping to reach 400’000.000 COP by replacing the last mile automotive logistics park.
