Summary

Autlán, focused on investing in sustainable development projects that are aligned to the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN), with a focus on health, education and infrastructure for the benefit of 49 communities in Lolotla, Molango, Tepehuacán , Xochicoaltán and Tlanchinol.

Innovation

Autlán started a contest with the communities in which projects are proposed and these are uploaded to a committee, which evaluates the viability and preparation of each one and with this, the best projects are chosen and are given a contribution so that the projects can be realized. This encourages people in the community to undertake and create a business idea that benefits them and the community by creating and motivating economic development.

Inspiration

Autlán is very committed to generating value through their manganese, energy and metallorum operating units, as well as complying with applicable legislations, satisfying the requirements of their clients, ensuring the physical integrity of their employees and contributing to the development of the communities where they participate based on sustainable operations and continuous improvement of the quality and environmental management systems.

Overall impact

"Natural resources are finite and at some point we will have to leave the community" - Alejandro Perez

This is one of the main reasons why Autlán implements sustainable models, where the community participates and democratically decides the projects to be executed, as Alejandro mentioned in the interview "communities identify their needs and take ownership of solutions."

The impact is also in the development of skills required in the community and will be necessary in time.

Business benefit

One of the pillars of Autlán is to create a sustainable and flexible model. As Alejandro said in the interview “there is a constant evolution between the company and the community.” Previously, Autlán supported in an economic way in forms of a gym, a school, etc. now the community is part of the solution. The goal is to create a sustainable community that has the resources and skills to help itself.
