The BCP bank is convinced that education is the main vehicle to lead to the sustained development of the country. In addition, quality higher education is vital for the construction of a future where young people are the protagonists of the transformation of their plans into reality; which is the purpose of the bank.
As Silvia comments in the interview, before she worked on issues related to economics and investments, but she realized that it was necessary to understand something more, to be able to take care of this part of the population that due to lack of economic resources, cannot have a good education. And after studying a master's degree in international development, she realized that companies can do much to shorten this gap, establishing in their business model social responsibility and have a positive impact on the country, and the fact that the bank is a for-profit company and it is a very powerful incentive to allow social actions to be scalable. What the bank also seeks with this program is to diversify the profile of its employees.
The program has invested till now more than 14 million of soles in full scholarships, with 161 fellows and more than 25 million of soles in loans, thus betting on the development of the country, with 573 beneficiaries already.
Only in the past year, 65 scholarships and 55 educational credits were granted to help talented people be able to go to university.
The economic benefit has not yet been quantified, since this program has only five years since its creation and most of the benefited students are still studying. However, they already have 2 people who completed their undergraduate studies and are working in their specialty and there are 7 pre-professional internships working in Credicorp.
Because of this programs, the bank has received different types of recognitions such as the following:
On the other hand, it has managed to have alliances with companies that share the same interest of educating.
It is important to mention that with the inclusion of the professionals in the bank's spreadsheet, it is possible to diversify the profile currently held by the bank, since the company currently has a very rigid profile.
With this program, the bank is looking to give talented young people of low income families, the opportunity to have a quality education in order to become highly competitive professionals. It is with this, that the bank helps to insert highly trained young people who are agents of change in society with the ability to make decisions in companies and be the future businessmen.
With this, it does not only benefits the students, but also their families, since it gives them the possibility that they can have a better life because of the improved work in which the beneficiary will perform, providing a better quality of life to all its members. On the other hand, highly committed professionals are formed with society, with reciprocal for all that occurred and thus generate a change in society.
