After years of living in the street with drugs and alcohol, Adhi Wijaya came to understand the purpose of his life and wanted to help the people on the street, especially the punk generation. He started a business and became a supplier for Honda Motor.
He saw on the street a lot of people (kids, teenagers) who needed support and jobs. These became his employees for his working station producing spare parts for Honda Motor.
The innovation is to help the country to overcome the problem initiated by the growing number of homeless people on the street. The law of Indonesia states that abandoned children should be taken care of by the state. But in reality there are too many of them; private initiatives should be taken to overcome the problem.
Mr. Adhi Wijaya inspires other punks and ex-convicts that life is abundant with opportunities and should not be wasted. He stated: "I believe in the people who are considered the scum of the society and give them a second chance to prove themselves that they are capable and useful for their families and their surrounding communities."
He has proven to the people and society that punk kids could do more for the society.
The overall impact is giving a second chance to the street kids by developing them to be productive in the workshop to produce spare parts for Honda Motor.
Economic empowerment for less fortunate people and production of quality products for Honda Motor's spare parts.
Less fortunate people now have jobs for their families, and therefore crime decreases and productivity increases. Punk kids are no longer seen as the problems of the society.
