Models of Nonpareil and Outstanding Learning Corp. (MONOL) stands as the premier provider of English education in Baguio. It has established its expertise by continuously developing streamlined programs and ensuring exceptional services for the optimal benefit of international students.
MONOL helps solve SDG4, the Quality Education problem, by assisting people in learning English and developing confident and competitive graduates who aim for success in a global society.
Tian Xiaowang, the manager of MONOL, started to do this job in 2016, and when he began, he also was a DBA student at the University of Baguio.
"I want to provide a much more qualified English education. I think everybody deserves a qualified education worldwide, and I don't think that getting a proper education should be hard and expensive." - Mr.Tian
"Our students hail from Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and our prestige has been expanding to various parts of the world. Monol advocates providing great learning for English proficiency and helping the students develop their sense of individualities and social awareness." - Mr.Tian
While Mr.Tian was a student at the University of Baguio in 2017, his English was not that good. He wanted to learn English but hoped to make it fun. At that time, he joined MONOL.
"I found MONOL is very different from other language schools. Students may learn and experience playing golf at the academy's driving range inside the campus. They may also relieve stress at the sauna, take yoga and Pilates classes, or enjoy various sports after classes. MONOL assures that having a healthy and fit lifestyle is the key to better performance in class. Not only do we provide fitness facilities, but also we arrange classes to let the students discover new hobbies for free. What's more, our training for teachers also makes us different." - Mr.Tian
"I also face many challenges. When I work in MONOL, there are some cold temperatures. At the same time, MONOL is not near to the city center. It is not convenient for teachers to come. Last but not least, going for perfect language teaching is the most challenging for us." - Mr.Tian
"In the beginning, students were afraid a little bit because they didn't know the outcome from MONOL, and they did not want to risk their money. But after taking the courses, almost all of the students were satisfied with their education and more than half of the students would like to get a language education next year. Because they can take qualified education and learn to play golf, take yoga, and so on. They can discover their hobbies for free." -Mr.Tian
"With the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still around 200 to 400 students in MONOL. Students' level varies. I wouldn't say that the specific scores students will get, but I can tell their level will improve. When they graduated, their English improvement was obvious. The teachers can give students something not only from textbooks." - Mr.Tian
There are more than 200 employees. They hire teachers, which is beneficial to the local economy. What’s more, over 80% are women.
At the same time, MONOL often organizes students to go to orphanages or attend charity activities. MONOL also conducts activities like recycling garbage and learning to save money.
MONOL promotes some of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Good Health and Well-Being, Reduced Inequalities, Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Sustainable Cities and Communities).
"As we all know, education plays a vital role in our life. But not all the instruction is qualified. It depends. As mentioned before, the company wants to help people get a qualified education. At the same time, MONOL provides fitness facilities. Still, it also arranges classes to let the students discover new hobbies for free. I want to help people develop themselves and get a better education and become more beneficial individuals in the future." - Mr.Tian
Quality education is that important. It allows people to break the cycle of poverty; it helps reduce inequalities and reaches gender equality; It enables people to lead a healthier and more sustainable life. It is essential to foster tolerance and peaceful societies.
