Mars Volunteer Program and Eco-School

The Back to School activity supports the floor employees by providing the school supplies they require (for those who have good grades). Along with this initiative, a scholarship fund was created (the following year) for those kids that are exceptional students (the best of their class and generation). A call will be made to choose the outstanding students.
The Eco-School activity seeks to have an impact in the community on the proper management of garbage, in addition to increasing the quality of life in the community.
This program is in 35 countries, and the Eco-School activity teaches the students to take care of the environment and to work together so they can value more the things they have; for example, they paint and clean the school.
The Mars volunteer program is intended to bring the company closer to the community (create a bond of trust). It started in the United States and Mexico in 2005, initially with internal activities but also working with projects related to social responsibility and sustainability. During year 4, activities are carried out which are part of the company's KPIs.
This program is born from the need to support the communities close to the plants and the commitment to be a Socially Responsible Company. Activities were created according to the global objectives (ODS).
During the month of October, there was meant to be a workshop to try to raise awareness about breast cancer. However, there was an emergency plan due to the September 19 earthquake. A collection center was created; 392 employees donated with the Red Cross, and the company doubled the economic donations from employees.
Employees generate value to the community by using a percentage of their salaries or hours of service to do activities that make the members of the communities feel that they are considered by the company and that the company cares about their welfare and development.
In addition, this favors the best relationships with the associates, fostering the values of the company while developing skills and competencies that favor their professional growth. Thus, it also benefits all the participants and those involved by promoting social service to the community, encouraging more companies to take the same initiatives as a socially responsible company. Also, there is improvement of the organizational climate, promotion of the corporate image and human values, and the possibility of knowing new markets and contexts in which they can act.
It generates a safe environment and fellowship in the community, which results in an improvement in the quality of life of the people who make it, who return to the community more united. The main beneficiaries of the company's community work are children, who receive the best possible education. Some of the benefits of proper management of organic waste have allowed for the creation of fertilized orchards through organic waste.
We have also had interaction with homes, bringing toys and talking with people. The next will be with TvAzteca alliance in different parts of the republic.
