Summary

In today's age, social media and online marketing are two key tools that businesses can utilize to spread awareness and inspire action. HelpGood's sole purpose is to help the voices of those who have a desire to make change to be heard. Using innovative marketing, communication, and fundraising strategies, HelpGood is doing exactly what their name suggests - helping companies to do good.

Innovation

Unlike marketing companies, whose sole purpose is to inspire people to buy a good or service, HelpGood uses their skills and resources to inspire people to take action. When a non-profit, NGO, foundation, university, or corporate social responsibility department is in need of spreading awareness, HelpGood steps in. The company "focuses on leveraging digital channels to further the marketing/communication efforts of non-profits." In other words, the foundations are already there - HelpGood just ensures that what is built on that foundation is effective in reaching the right people, at the right times, in the right ways.

Unlike other marketing companies, when it comes to achieving the mission of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, HelpGood's work allows them to simultaneously fulfill several goals at once. One day they may be working on social media and content marketing for Keep America Beautiful - an organization focused on environmental concerns - the next day they may put together a marketing strategy for A Better Balance - a group who "promotes equality and expanded choices for men and women at all incomes levels." The impact HelpGood has is limitless, and that is what makes them truly special.

Marketing for Good

Inspiration

"We saw that over time we would be able to help these non-profits tell their stories and leverage digital channels - that's where our focus has been"

- Michael Bellavio, CEO

Overall impact

Because HelpGood serves organizations that stand for a variety of causes, the impact that the company has is far-reaching. In creating digital content for companies such as The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, Animal League America, and Autism Speaks, HelpGood generates more awareness and meaningful engagements than any of the companies could do on their own. This has led to new funding sources, donors, email sign-ups, and greater brand awareness for their clients.

Social media and online marketing are now at the forefront of every successful company, and HelpGood ensures that each of their clients has a strong impact online. For many non-profits and awareness-raising groups the hardest part of the job is letting people know that they are out there. The work that HelpGood does ensures that people not only hear about the organizations but are intrigued enough to learn more and, hopefully, get involved.

Business benefit

HelpGood's innovation is that it is their business to bring benefit to other businesses. Serving the community is what they are all about. That service is how they make their money, and it allows them to make a difference every day they walk into the office.

Some people may wonder - why limit yourself to companies with a cause? Why not take on any company in need of innovative marketing strategies instead of limiting your client market? According to Bellavia, there simply was and is no need to seek out business in other niches, because there is such a demand for it where they already are. The company was created in response to a lack of online marketing resources specifically tailored for non-profit organizations, and since their founding in 2016 HelpGood has consistently grown and diversified their clientele. Importantly, in response to those who question why HelpGood limits the types of companies they choose to do work for, it is important to point out that doing good is interwoven into the heart of HelpGood and what they stand for. It is a business that was created to make a difference as well as a profit, and they don't want, or need, to stray from what they stand for.

Social and environmental benefit

HelpGood has run Social Media and Marketing Campaigns for Keep America Beautiful, the EPA, NOAA, and several other organizations whose goal is to raise awareness for environmental causes and to inspire people to take action.

One of the projects that caught our eye was the interactive site that HelpGood created to aid NOAA in keeping our oceans clean. As a part of this site, "English and Spanish speaking children could explore the ocean by diving deeper and deeper into the water to find facts and information...all focused on keeping oceans clean."

In addition to this project, HelpGood serves a wide variety of other well-known clients such as NYU, The Perkins School for the Blind, The Humane Society of the US, Whole Foods, and many more. In all, the work they do benefits society in its pursuit for equal rights, humane animal treatment, mental health awareness, and so much more.
