HumanIA Tech developed an AI-based tool that assesses socio-emotional skills by analyzing natural language rather than relying on traditional questionnaires. The innovation contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals — particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
By applying ethical and data-driven technology, the company helps institutions and organizations promote inclusion, fairness, and emotional well-being.
At the heart of HumanIA Tech’s work is an innovation that unites AI, linguistics, and psychology to understand how people express themselves through writing. The system analyzes texts of about 800 words to identify 35 competencies with more than 90 percent accuracy, replacing subjective self-assessment tests.
The tool functions as both a SaaS application and an API, enabling educators and HR departments to obtain immediate, objective insights into traits such as empathy, openness, and adaptability. Its origin traces back to María Beúnza’s graduate research, when she realized that schools lacked reliable ways to assess emotional development. With early support from IBM and leading psychiatrists, the project evolved into a validated, scalable platform used internationally.

Beúnza explained that the idea was born out of frustration with outdated, biased assessment tools: “We saw that essential life skills like empathy and resilience were being measured through slow, unreliable methods. We wanted a system that could not only evaluate but also help people grow.”
HumanIA’s mission rests on four guiding principles:
1. Humanize technology, always putting people first.
2. Promote socio-emotional development and resilience.
3. Remove bias from human assessment.
4. Support fair, evidence-based decisions in education and work.
“Our goal has always been to help those who help — teachers, coaches, and HR professionals. We want technology to serve us, not the other way around.” This conviction shapes the company’s ethical approach to AI and its belief that technology should enhance — not replace — humanity.
HumanIA Tech has transformed the development of emotional intelligence. Schools like Jesuitinas and Irabia-Izaga use the platform to improve socio-emotional learning. At the same time, organizations such as IED Company and Mentha Executive Search rely on it to support more equitable recruitment processes.
Independent studies confirm over 90 percent accuracy in identifying competencies, reinforcing its scientific validity. Collaborations with the University of Navarra and Fundación Perspectivas del Trabajo bring the technology into leadership programs focused on ethics and communication.
In the short term, HumanIA has improved educators’ understanding of students; in the long term, it is fostering more empathetic institutions and equitable workplaces.
The innovation sustains the company financially through SaaS licenses and API subscriptions. Its reputation for ethical AI has opened partnerships across Latin America and now supports expansion into North America. Compliance with international standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2, GDPR) has strengthened its credibility and attracted institutional clients. Internally, the project has enhanced employee motivation by aligning personal values with the organization's purpose.
HumanIA’s approach democratizes access to emotional intelligence tools that were once restricted to clinical experts. Teachers, counselors, and companies can now quickly and fairly identify socio-emotional strengths and areas for growth.
By prioritizing ethical and explainable AI, the platform supports digital responsibility, inclusion, and well-being. It contributes to more humane education systems (SDG 4), healthier emotional awareness (SDG 3), and equitable employment (SDG 8 & 10).
As Beúnza reflects, “Sustainability means creating jobs, generating value, and not harming others. From that perspective, I believe our contribution is very high.”
