Chhajed foods private limited was established in 1979 under the visionary leadership of Mr. Subh Karan chhajed with the purpose of providing quality food to its customer. Chhajed Foods Innovated a Potato snack which absorbs 40 to 50% less oil than other potato chips providing zero cholesterol, no Trans-fat and no Sugar. Chhajed Foods also innovated FRYLO POOCHKAS which are hygienically made Pani Puri (Most loved Indian street food). Usually the Pani Puri available on the street sides is unhygienic, solving this issue Chhajed Foods created a Pani Puri kit with natural ingredients which had nutritional values and provided a one stop solution.

The son of Subhkaran Chhajed (Founder of Chhajed Foods) Rajesh Chhajed was involved in the innovation as he had travelled abroad and explored the healthy and hygienic food available and the massive potential of packaged food market in India. He also noticed the problems of obesity and other growing health problems like diabetes, increased cholesterol along with the irregularities and unavailability of healthy food options.
In 2009 the company realised the need and the growing inclination towards healthy and hygienic food. They set up a separate research wing for developing healthy food options under the guidance of Rajesh Chhajed R&D department of Chhajed Foods came up with a product catering to these problems and developed a healthy food options using dehydrated European potato chips.
Chhajed Foods installed automated state of the art machinery and used European raw material to create healthy food snacks. They also made the product available in variety of shapes and sizes which were not available earlier.
The original idea was developed by Mr. Rajesh Chhajed as he had travelled abroad and had explored healthy and hygienic food available there. He realised the massive potential of packaged food market in India. He also noticed the problems of obesity and other growing health problems like diabetes, increased cholesterol along with the irregularities and unavailability of healthy food options.
The purpose for doing the innovation was to provide healthy and hygienic food options using quality materials to its loyal customers in packaged food category.
The motivation for the POOCHKAS was the unavailability of the most loved street food in a packaged and hygienic format. Chhajed Foods developed a one stop solution for the Pani Puri which contained all the ingredients required for preparing Pani Puri. Manufacturing process for the POOCHKA is fully automated and without any human intervention.
The impact of the innovation was that Chhajed Foods was able to acquire new clients such as Pepsi Co and provided them the raw material for their new product of healthy food. Pepsi co developed products such as i.e. Lays Crispz and Lays Snapz with the raw material. This led to substantial increase in business and revenue of Chhajed Foods.
Chhajed Food was recognized as “Most trusted food brand in Asia” and was awarded amongst the “Top 100 SME’s enterprises in India”.

Starting with the production capacity of 300Kg per day today have a total production 45 tons per day with the help of three Swiss automated state of art machinery.
