The innovation relates to a sense of mission, purpose, or meaning. There are a lot of fundraisers that are held. Mr. John Albanese, president of Cremosa Food Company, stated, “We go around to these individual events and give that family a check. We only believe in giving money directly to the family, we don’t believe in giving money to other charities. This is because the charities have all other expenses. What we have done over the last several of years is we have taken individual families at our fundraising events and giving one or two families around $35-45,000 at the event”. This gives the organization a sense of meaning, purpose, and a positive mission. The president of Cremosa, John Albanese checks off good health, well-being, and clean water and sanitation on the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
It was a remarkable gift for John Albanese, President of Cremosa Food Company/Friends of Kenny Warren to sit down with me for this interview and learning opportunity. Cremosa Food Company is a food distribution company that distributes food products to restaurants and is located in Melville, New York. My name is Sarah Murphy, and my goal as a student or young leader is to learn from this experience and learn as much as I can from Mr. Albanese’s real-life experiences about the positive role of business in building a better world. This interview was more than a mentoring opportunity.
The impact of the innovation on society and the environment is that Cremosa believes in raising money for children with cancer. The company is twenty-one years old. As Mr. Albanese states, “one of our sales people’s son who was twenty-one years old, contracted cancer seven years ago and from the day he was diagnosed to the day the day he passed away was thirty two days. So, our salesman in those thirty-two days accumulated well over $50,000 of hospital bills that he couldn’t pay for so we decided to help raise money for him to be able to pay those bills. When doing that we saw what impact it had on him and he decided to form his own charity to be able to help other families who are going through the same thing. We have done it now for the past seven years and have raised well over a million dollars”. This charity organization that they give back to is called the Friends of Kenny Warren.
In 2026, Mr. Albanese says, “in the charity and future we would love to see a cure for cancer. Sometimes we don’t see the child but we give money to them and sometimes before they can even use the money, the child passes away. So you hope in 2026 there would be a cure so these children don’t have to go through suffering like they do”. They have visited many hospitals for example Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Stony Brook Hospital Cancer Center.
They provide a bulk amount of food for many restaurants. Their societal and environmental benefit is that Cremosa believes in raising money for children with cancer.
