The school has 32 lecturers with strong industrial experience. Roberto Rocca was a visionary who dedicated over 50 years to create what today is Techint Group, promoting and driving investigation and technology, committed to both industrial development and social responsibility. Mr. Rocca demonstrated a deep engagement and accountability to establish and pass along value, development, and wellness to the community.
In
2014, studies applied to the municipality of Pesqueria Nuevo Leon demonstrated
that 70 to 80 percent of students were truant. The reason was mostly because of the
lack of schools in the area, creating the need to commute to other
municipalities and increasing the cost and expenses for the families of the
community, expenses that they couldn’t afford. The youngsters abandoning their education become more vulnerable to recruitment by the different criminal groups in the northern zone of the country.
Based on these ideals, principles, and the result of the studies, this educational project started in Mexico. In 2016 Maximo Vedoya,
President of Ternium Mexico, participated in the opening of the second school of
its kind (the first opened in Argentina a year earlier) , where he exposed the
values and commitment that Ternium-Techint Group has to the sustainable growth of
the community, specifically the community of Pesqueria Nuevo Leon. With an
investment of more than $30 million USD, the institution began operations with
the main objective of promoting local social development.
The project is oriented to strengthen and implement innovative practices with the main objective of creating capable specialists and technicians, prepared to face the academic and professional world with the skills needed to respond to all the challenges they could face in the industry now and in the future. According to the Secretary of Education in the state of Nuevo Leon, the industry requests 15,000 technicians per year, while the supply is no more than 5,000.
While the students have no formal commitment to Techint Group, as confirmed by the HR manager, Alfredo Bustani, the company has improved the learning curve in their new recruits.
In the community, migration and socioeconomic issues have been reduced since a local and affordable educational option is now available.
