They also offer Consultancy/Education /Awareness Programmes and is one of the few companies to conduct Waste Audits.
"Changes call for innovation, and innovation leads to progress." With this thought, Alterenegyz helps to solve the Liquid Waste Management problem by providing sewage treatment plants both for individual households and communities. They also provide effluent treatment plants for industry and also undertake troubleshooting and maintenance of the plants. Installation and maintenance of Biogas plants to convert kitchen and other bio-degradable waste into cooking fuel and also installation and maintenance of solar based products like Solar Heating systems, Solar street lights, Concentrated Solar Technology solutions etc. Their innovation also includes installation of Sanitary Napkin Incinerators and management of Biomass which helps in the implementation of complete waste management solutions including collection, segregation, and disposal of all kind of solid wastes.
"Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough." These were the lines which inspired the Founder to take this innovation a step forward. His natural liking for the environment and a zeal to make a difference in Goa specifically was the main motivator to start this venture. He felt that if you don't do anything for the environment now, then it will be too late to do something. Being a native of Goa, he felt that there was a huge amount of waste generated every day and someone needs to take up an initiative to segregate and manage the waste disposal wherein he stepped in and became the torch bearer.
He felt two main motivations for working in Sesa Goa. First, the detrimental impact on the environment (wherein illegal mining was going on at that time) and secondly, there was a limit to the efforts you put while working for the corporations, being restricted by the specific guidelines. It was a dark period and difficult to adjust to, but the above two triggers mentioned above inspired him to the start the organization, Alterenegyz in 2014. After some time he realized there is more than just to save the environment and was able to realize the huge potential in the waste management sector.
The company has taken surveys in schools to identify their waste management disposal systems. They found out that they had a problem with maintenance. So they cooperated with Goa Waste Management Organization to deal with the problem. They have already installed machines in 20 high schools and are adding 2 schools per month. They get good feedback from the school authorities every time they visit. It has created an impact on students as they know the importance of waste disposal and they will take this knowledge with them throughout their lives.
Their turnover is 4 million currently. Their initial focus was solid waste management. After a couple of projects, they realized the amount of waste generated was greater than they anticipated and it was not limited to solid waste. They felt a need to venture into areas like liquid waste management, electronic waste, hazardous waste etc.
They started providing solutions for both small and big projects. Bigger projects include waste management plants for a housing complex and a mall, whereas the smaller ones include installing incinerators in a girls school etc.
Since they expanded the scope of their business they were able to generate more profits for themselves and became more aware of how to approach a client or project.
The disposal of solid waste was a major concern in Goa which many organizations fail to cater. Alterenergyz encouraged people to dispose of their own waste without relying on external agencies. Also, it reduced the pressure on people collecting garbage as it was also difficult for them to segregate and dispose of the waste.
Also, Alterenergyz has partnered with Nestle to install a setup in Talegaon of rainwater harvesting system. It recharges around 0.6 million liters of water every year. This will ensure the equitable distribution of water to the villages and relieve them in times of crisis.
