Haste and Hustle was started by Shauna Arnott when she realized a need for Canada to have the same conference networking opportunities as people in other parts of the world. With her background in event planning Shauna reached out to Gary Vaynerchuk to speak at a conference in Canada. The first event was a success and Shauna has been running annual conferences since. These events allow young and old entrepreneurs to connect and learn new marketing techniques and business strategies while also being a great networking opportunity. Haste and Hustle is providing Canadians with an opportunity to learn and gain a quality education in something they are passionate about.
Haste and Hustle’s innovation is hosting an event with guest speakers informing young or new entrepreneurs on how to market, run and manage their business. Each guest speaker tells their story and gives there advice to the audience about how they became successful. This event is a great learning and educational presentation for new entrepreneurs. Also, this event allows everyone to network with one another and the main objective is to find mentors, resources and connection which can help expand and grow your own business.
Shauna’s innovation is to inform the youth or new entrepreneurs into how to run a business. Therefore, her innovation relates to a sense of mission to watch the new entrepreneurs, small businesses and youth strive and be successful because she loves helping people. Shauna wants her audience to get connections, resources, mentors and learn as much as possible at her events.
The original idea for Haste and Hustle came about from Shauna Arnott when she wanted to attend an entrepreneurship event to further understand how to launch her business. However, after some research she found out that it is extremely expensive for not only the event, but the travel and accommodations because most of them are held in the United States. Shauna first started working as an event planner but wasn’t fulfilled. She said "I wanted to do something where I was making an impact on a community that was important to me.” She wanted to do something in the entrepreneurial community specifically in the GTA and bring big name speakers to provide exceptional value to the community and accessible (affordable) so they can attend. So, she contacted some key speakers booked them all and provided a good line up for people in the community and that’s where it all began. Now, Shauna feels that she is making a big impact.
The impact of the innovation on society is that Haste and Hustle are providing new and young entrepreneurs with an more affordable event which allows them to get a quality education in the networking, marketing and managing part of business. Also, Haste and Hustle shows awareness and supports the emerging entrepreneurs within their community. Haste and Hustle’s made goal in the society is to help companies grow and be successful because Shauna believes small companies are a driver for our economy and they are much more than we think. As a result the event allows smaller companies to grow by providing them with the opportunity to network, gain resources and mentors to further their company.
The impact of the innovation on the environment is to help young entrepreneurs grow their businesses. However, Shauna wants to see more women get on stage get on stage and start putting themselves out there because she believes there is not enough women in the industry. She said she gets maybe 1 women every 6 months emailing her if they can go on stage, but she gets men almost every week emailing and putting themselves out there. So , Shauna hopes that she can maybe increase the gender equality with holding these events, which will help further grow the economy.
WHAT were the short-term effects? What were the long-term effects?
The short-term effects from attending Haste and Hustle are to making connections, requiring a resource/resources, finding a mentor that is either in the business you’re in or is at the success you want to achieve and learning as much knowledge about entrepreneurship as possible.
The long-term effects are you incorporating your connections, resources, mentors and knowledge learned or acquired from this event to further grow your own business or field of work. By using these tools you should be able to increase your own stock, wealth and even help the economy grow.
The evidence that suggests that is impact has occurred is that Shauna gets constant emails saying thank you for hosting this event because it helped me grow my business like no Youtube video, book or blog could do. This is because the content to this event is available on YouTube for anybody to see but the connections, resources, mentors and hands on interaction is only available at the event.
From a business standpoint in specific, the innovations the company is making in how they encourage and nurture interaction and connectivity amongst their audience is incredibly attractive as a reason for people to actually buy a ticket an attend. On top of that, the business is constantly on the cusp of the new up and coming speakers, influencers, gamechangers, and thought leaders of our time. Bringing these highly sought after individuals to come speak in Canada and providing attendees to connect with them creates value for both the business and attendees.
What we grew to love about this company and their contributions to humanity from an educational standpoint, is that they don't stop educating at the door. Meaning, the company consistently pours resources back into the perpetuity of this information and shares it for free online via channels like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. The information becomes universally accessible for anyone, anywhere, at anytime, for free. While this focus does not directly impact the business positively from a financial standpoint, it indirectly builds the company's brand equity which in turn leads to more sales.
Their efforts to impact the world through quality education is so prevalent through their brand. They are educating people on things that are not typically spoken about at schools or other channels of formal education. This, however, is only the tip of the iceberg as to how the company is innovating itself toward this goal.
How the company is tackling all of the UN SDG goals and innovating their way is through a whole symbiotic process that intertwines with one another. At the company's events, they provide a way for real time networking to occur by having influencers wear different color shirts so people in the audience can sort faster and more effectively to help them create partnerships that matter. The company in and of itself operates for profit and through this, help sustain and contribute to new economic growth by growing an industry in a unique and special way. Seeing as the company is run and owned by a women, gender equality is a topic she is very passionate about. She wants to bring more light to the female entrepreneur community by having more women speakers on stage.
And of course as for providing a quality education, the company's main purpose for existence is to pour back into the people of tomorrow by giving them the modern age tools they really need to win. This all seems to be at the core for why Haste and Hustle continues to do great work for the world.
