The OMUM brand, marketed by Naadam Nature, is a unique line of organic skin care products designed to meet the needs of moms-to-be during and after pregnancy, that are also environmentally friendly. OMUM was created with the goal of making products that are not only safe for mom and baby, but also to magnify the pleasure, emotion, and glamour of pregnancy.
Naadam Nature is the first company in France to launch, under the OMUM brand, an environmentally friendly line of all natural and organic skincare products for moms to be, that are safe to use during pregnancy and while nursing.
OMUM products are designed to respond to the new needs of skin during pregnancy. Collaborating with professionals from the maternity and childcare industries, Naadam Nature has created products that help to prevent the appearance of stretch marks and mitigate their appearance, combat the increasing dehydration of the skin, re-balance facial skin, strengthen and restore the elasticity of the skin, and care for the intimate area. OMUM products use recyclable packaging to guarantee zero waste.
In addition to its skincare line, the company has created an app, called “myOmum,” that offers expectant mothers tips and advice. "I wanted to create a different brand of care that reintroduces emotion in motherhood, while meeting the needs of modern pregnant women," explains OMUM founder, Marie-Pascale Ballet.
OMUM founder, Marie-Pascale Ballet, was inspired to create her company and line of products following the birth of her first child and a 14 month trip around the world. The trip allowed her to observe the way other countries experienced pregnancy. Ballet noticed that on some continents, like Asia and Africa, pregnancy and birth is a joyful and festive experience for the family. Whereas in Europe, particularly France, it can often create anxiety, triggered by countless medical appointments and guilt-inducing advice.
Back in France, Ballet soon gave birth to a little girl. As she experienced pregnancy for the first time, she noticed that many skincare products are made with ingredients that can be harmful to the health of mothers-to-be, their babies, and the environment. It was then that she decided to found Naadam Nature and broadcast her vision of maternity to the world; a vision that celebrates the emotion of pregnancy with safe products for mom and baby. As Ballet states on the company website, "I wanted to give us pleasure and an opportunity to cultivate a happy relationship full of tenderness with the baby (and dad) thanks to safe and effective care."
Nadaam Nature's OMUM skincare line clearly meets UN Sustainable Development Goal “Good Health and Well-Being.” All products are organically made and safe to use during pregnancy, respecting the vulnerability of moms-to-be and their babies. They are free of essential oils and preservatives, dermatologically tested, and safe to use during breast feeding.
OMUM products are also made with respect for the environment, in keeping with UN SDG “Responsible Consumption and Production.” There is no controversy about any of the ingredients used or the production process. Packaging is recyclable and reusable, leaving no waste.
The profound and hard work the company has undertaken since its inception in 2011 is bearing fruit today, helping raise awareness and educate consumers about sustainable consumption when it comes to the products they buy. Nadaam Nature's products are certified as 100% made in France, organic, and safe to use for mothers-to-be.
Nadaam Nature's reputation for making safe and environmentally friendly products has increased the company's visibility and helped it grow, since it's start in 2011. While the OMUM brand is mainly distributed through organic retailers in France, such as La Vie Claire, Bio C Bon, and Biocoop stores, its products are also found in beauty salons and spas, sold by cosmetics companies and on websites like Mademoiselle Bi and Monde Bio. The OMUM skincare line is also available on Amazon and sold by pharmaceutical and healthcare retail stores. It distributes large volumes of its products in France and Europe, which has helped Naadam Nature's visibility grow even more.
First, the issue of ingredients in OMUM skincare products must be highlighted. The notion of safety is a pillar of the brand's strategy with, of course, the notion of pleasure. Each product contains less than 10 ingredients, no essential oils (which represent a danger for mothers and babies), and no synthetic fragrances or preservatives. They are compatible with breastfeeding
On average, OMUM skincare products are made of 65 percent organic ingredients and 98 percent natural ingredients. Items such as “Le Confidente” and “Le Soudée” include 99.5 percent biological and natural ingredients. This allows the brand to be certified as organic. OMUM products are certified at the highest rating by Nature et Progrès, a federation of consumers and professionals committed to agro-ecology, and Cosmebio, the Professional Association for Natural, Ecological and Organic Cosmetics. They are also certified as cruelty free and vegan by PETA, guaranteeing products are not tested on animals and contain no animal ingredients. According to the OMUM website, products are made without any ingredient that are "endocrine disruptive, recognized carcinogens, mutagenics, or repro-toxics."
The company has adopted an environmental charter for the packaging and sale of it's products that everything used is "as safe, ethical, and environmentally friendly as it can possibly be." Packaging is recyclable and reusable. OMUM is proud to claim “zero waste, zero wastefulness.”
