As per we talked with the owner and the manager of the cafe, we came to know that they want to bring some changes in behavior of people’s life by encouraging them to use the products that can be recycled and reused. They also took consideration about the environment pollution caused by the use of plastic made material and took small steps to resolve it. Similarly, as there is only few pottery industry in Kathmandu, they want to encourage people to invest on it such that it can help to break the monopoly in the price of madka cup and other mud related items. As per them, motivating the fine art students and giving them part time job is also one of their main ideas to establish this company.

As there was a time when the clay cups were found everywhere but nowadays the use of plastic cups is increasing. But here in Chiya Ghar, we put one foot in the past enjoying the delicious tea in the cup called as Madka cup. Meanwhile, they had introduced ceramic cups with the brand name, ‘The Madka’, to serve their different varieties of coffee.

The overall impact of this business is mainly on the society, its people and the environment. This Chiya ghar is one the perfect example to promote for green environment. Through this business, it tries to aware the Nepali people about the traditional way of having a cup of tea which is completely different what we do in our today’s daily life.

As plastic cup is made up of BPA (Bisphenol A) and when hot liquid is poured on it, the chemical can be mixed such that it can affect the health of people. But the clay is naturally alkaline and without any harmful chemical, it promotes the better living in people’s life.
