Inspiration

Michael Sim said his inspiration came from when he was volunteering and saw how he could make a change in the community. He really enjoys volunteer work and came up with this brilliant idea. He worked really hard to make this happen. He endured countless nights of no sleep and many rejections of his concept from shelters along the way. Him and his partner went to a lot of shelters to finally find one that believed their idea was good enough to work with.

Overall impact

The company is still relatively new so the overall impact isn’t extreme as of right now. It’s still a startup company. In the future, he hopes to be to partnered with many more homeless shelters. Mr. Sim strives to help homeless children explore their artistic side and teach them about business and to help provide more clothes and food for these children.

Business benefit

Although the main focus of this business is to help these homeless children be more involved in the community and share their talents, the company still makes a good amount of money from these sales. It really doesn’t cost much to manufacture a tee shirt, but they sell these for about $30 each. He has not told me about how much they profit from this business but knowing Michael Sim, I’m sure the main focus is for the community rather than business.

Social and environmental benefit

Homeless children are more involved in the community. They can feel like their work matters now and there is more attention geared towards them. They will be able to wear the creations they’ve made as well. This is a good activity to show off the talents of these kids who really don’t get as much attention as they deserve.

Michael mentioned he started this company in hopes to help save a particular community. He found a way by doing so by creating tee shirts which designs were drawn by homeless kids in shelters. He started this still growing company with friend and partner. His partner owns a tee shirt printing company, which made it work. As tee shirts are sold, the profit they make they will use that to buy clothing and lunch boxes for these homeless kids in need.
