Natural Gas is found abundant in nature. It is used as a cleaner fuel alternative to LPG and petroleum products. Natural Gas is used in the City Gas Distribution sector that has lesser CO2 emissions. It has brought innovation to the energy sector and created the infrastructure for the same. Since the price is lesser compared to LPG, it’s affordable and cleaner. This infrastructure is helping to build sustainable cities and communities.
Compressed natural gas is one of the latest innovations that has taken over in IOAGPL. Compared to traditional fuels like gasoline and diesel, compressed natural gas (CNG) offers a cost savings of over 50%. The average cost per liter of gasoline in Maharashtra has climbed by over 10% in the last decade. In 2004, the average price per liter of gasoline in Maharashtra was'37.00; it is now around'76.00. There has never been a better time to investigate alternative fuel sources for our autos in today's highly competitive market.
One of the most environmentally friendly transportation fuels available today is compressed natural gas (CNG). CNG burns cleaner than petroleum-based products due to its lower carbon content. CNG produces the least amount of pollution of any fuel and contains much fewer contaminants than typical liquid fuels. CNG emits 20 percent less pollution than petroleum-based fuels.
While growing up in a village in Maharashtra sir observed the fast pace of urbanization and its adverse effects on the ecosystem of the village. Being from a farming background sir was always close to nature and this has been his motivation to join the natural gas industry.
During his higher education in Mumbai, sir witnessed the extent of pollution generated by the emissions of petroleum products and he decided to work in an industry associated with cleaner fuel so that he can give back to the environment.
Natural gas has a number of advantages over petroleum-based products. For fleet vehicles, stage and contract carriages, garbage disposal trucks, delivery vehicles, and more, compressed natural gas (CNG) is the sensible and cost-effective option. You'll save money on gas, reduce emissions, and extend the life of your car by using CNG.
Compressed natural gas (CNG) is one of the most environmentally friendly transportation fuels available today. Because of its reduced carbon content, CNG burns cleaner than petroleum-based goods. CNG emits the fewest pollutants of any other fuel and contains far fewer pollutants than traditional liquid fuels. Compared to petroleum fuels, CNG emits 20-30% fewer greenhouse gases and 95 percent lower exhaust emissions.
CNG vehicles produce no evaporative emissions since their fuel systems are entirely enclosed because CNG does not contain lead, it extends the life of spark plugs by preventing fouling because CNG does not dilute or pollute crankcase oil, oil replacement and tune-up intervals are extended because CNG does not react with metals, pipes and mufflers survive longer. All of this lowers maintenance expenses while prolonging the engine's lifespan because natural gas has an octane level of around 127, it outperforms petroleum-based products. CNG vehicles feature less banging and no vapor lock, and because natural gas is already in a gaseous state, they start faster even in extreme cold or heat. CNG fuel storage tanks are more durable and safer than gasoline or diesel tanks, lowering the risk of an unintentional discharge. CNG disperses fast into the air rather than on the ground when released, lowering the risk of fire and contamination.
Furthermore, CNG emits little to no pollutants when refueling because PNG is lighter than air, it disperses quickly and prevents spontaneous combustion.PNG is one of the safest fuels due to its narrow inflammability range. If the combustible mixture of natural gas and air is leaner than 5% and richer than 15% of the air-fuel ratio required for ignition, it will not ignite. Natural gas has a lower density than air. As a result, if there is a leak, it disperses swiftly into the air with appropriate ventilation.PNG is delivered by pipelines at very low pressure, making it a safer technology because the amount of Natural Gas inside the premises is quite tiny.PNG supply can be turned off in the event of a fire by using valves installed in the pipelines inside and outside the kitchen.
Another practical advantage observed is the increased life of lubricating oils, as CNG does not contaminate and dilute the crankcase oil.
CNG has brought a fundamental change in the way people travel. The cost of travel has been greatly reduced for public transportation using CNG.
Revenue has increased for the company since the government of India is expanding its CGD business across the country including the rural areas.
In the new product category, there are new inventions taking place in the Industrial use of PNG. New capacity Meter regulating stations are created to match with the industrial output.
Meters that don’t require manual reading techniques have been a cherry on the cake in the industry and have transformed meter reading to a very different level making it very easy to compile the bills. This has increased customer satisfaction which further creates a good name for the industry.
Commonly referred to as green fuel because of its lead and sulphur-free character, CNG reduces harmful emissions. Being non-corrosive, it enhances the longevity of spark plugs. Due to the absence of any lead or benzene content in CNG, the lead fouling of spark plugs, and lead or benzene pollution are eliminated.
Safe fuel has properties of CNG that make it a safe fuel. It is stored in high gauge seamless cylinders which are certified with a negligible chance of leakage. It is lighter than air, so in case of a leak, it just rises up and disperses into the atmosphere, and mixes in the air easily and evenly.
Highlights: CNG is less likely to auto-ignite on hot surfaces since it has a high auto-ignition temperature (540 degrees centigrade) and a narrow range (5%-15%) of flammability. It means that if CNG concentration in the air is below 5% or above 15%, it will not burn. This high ignition temperature and limited flammability range make accidental ignition or combustion very unlikely.CNG vehicles can run both on CNG and Petrol.
Low operational cost: The operational cost of vehicles running on CNG, as compared to those running on other fuels, is comparatively low.
CNG has several qualities that make it a safe fuel. It's kept in high-gauge seamless cylinders that are guaranteed to have a low risk of leaking. Because it is lighter than air, it simply rises and disperses into the atmosphere, where it mixes readily and evenly.
Highlights: Because of its high auto-ignition temperature (540 degrees Celsius) and limited flammability range (5 percent -15 percent), CNG is less likely to auto-ignite on hot surfaces. It indicates that if the concentration of CNG in the air is less than 5% or It will not burn if the percentage is greater than 15%. Accidental ignition or combustion is extremely improbable due to the high ignition temperature and restricted flammability range. CNG cars are capable of running on both CNG and gasoline.
Oils' shelf life is extended.
