Summary

4ocean is a worldwide purpose driven development founded and dedicated to ending the ocean crisis. The global team was designed to effectively remove trash from the ocean and coastlines while educating and making efforts to influence consumption habits on land. The goal is to partner with others to work towards a cleaner ocean one pound at a time.

Innovation

4ocean is consistently working on new technologies and ways to pull more pounds of trash out of the ocean. They engineer and invest in technology that has the potential to prevent, expel and refuse waste from the oceans coastlines. Recent innovations include skimmers, excavators and a large recovery vessel. The recent “Recovery Vessel” is designed to both guide in waste recuperations and help transport enormous amounts of plastic. This blend of innovation and employees enables 4ocean to expel ocean waste twenty-four hours a day, seven days every week. 4ocean's worldwide cleanups are financed completely through the clearance of their sustainability products. This line of products sold by 4ocean are for the most part made up of marine plastic and recycled materials. The company’s initial cleanups were done solely on the proceeds of their sustainability bracelets. However more innovations emerged from needing to pull more pounds of trash out of the ocean at a faster pace and to keep customers and supporters engaged with more than just bracelets. As a result the company has some new additions to their sustainability collection which include drink wear, reusable bags, straws, T-Shirt and hat collections. For each 4ocean item acquired, one pound of garbage is removed from the ocean. 4ocean sales advocate Dori passionately describes the company as “a team effort. We have our founders Alex and Andrew along with multiple teams that focus on cleanups, new product development, technology, education and so much more. Every team has a piece of each project.”

Inspiration

4ocean was established in Boca Ranton, Florida in 2017. It began with the trip of two surfers Alex and Andrew who had been around the ocean throughout their lives. For the two, fishing, swimming, diving and surfing were not strangers to them growing up along the coastlines of Florida. After becoming friends in college Alex and Andrew saved for their dream trip. On their post college trip they sought off Bali in search of a surfer's dream of big waves. At the point when they landed to their destination they were promptly struck by the enormous pollutants that stifled Bali’s shorelines with garbage and waste that washes up from the ocean. They were motivated by seeing the battle of Indonesian fishermen as they pushed through hills of plastic. This led Alex and Andrew to take their fishing boats to more profound waters and lead them on a mission that transformed their vision into five million pounds of ocean trash removed.

Overall impact

From the company’s start in 2017 4ocean has had extraordinary energy and made incredible achievements, expansion and milestones. 4ocean’s professional cleanup crews have recovered millions of pounds of ocean plastic and other harmful marine debris since 2017. To date it has recovered a total of 7,235,006 lbs. 4ocean has partnered with organizations such as Carbonfund.org, Polar Bears International, Coral Restoration Foundation, Network Canopy Project, Project Aware, FAU Harbor Ocean Graphic Institute, Sea Legacy’s, Conservation International and many others to make a positive impact on our environment, its resources and life in and out of the ocean. In addition to providing 200 jobs 4ocean helps daily to raise awareness around the globe.

Business benefit

4ocean believes in more than just a financial relationship with its subscribers, volunteers and customers. They take pride in really connecting with them and personalizing each relationship. 4ocean's dedicated team will help anyone who reaches out with personal questions regarding sustainability and will even send flowers to the families of subscribers who have passed away. Creating these strong relationships goes a long way on the business side of things because it makes 4ocean a trusted and respected entity that people want to work with. 4ocean’s drive for innovation has also been a key factor in their ascension in the business world. They never settle for what they have and are always looking for more efficient ways to accomplish their goals.

Social and environmental benefit

The way 4ocean goes about fulfilling its mission of providing the planet with cleaner oceans starts first and foremost with the impact they have socially. 4ocean believes the most important factor in their success is making people aware of the problems in the environment and educating them on what they can do to help the cause on their own. This alone will create less trash in the ocean and bring 4ocean's goals one step closer to reality.
