Summary

All-Rite Group of Companies provides innovation by supplying Ontario-based businesses with customized products such as garage doors, warehouse and dock hardware and equipment, created from Canadian sourced materials. In turn, providing benefits for the company, the environment, and society as a whole.

Innovation

The innovation of All-Rite Group of Companies is through the services they provide and the use of customized products made from Canadian sourced materials, provided to Ontario based clients. Their dedication to providing sustainable recycled materials made into efficient products allows for responsible consumption and production. This innovation arose when the president of the company, Liam Delaney, began the company in 1996 for the purpose of creative control over the products the company uses as well as getting jobs done efficiently and effectively. It was important for Liam and the rest of the company to operate following the standards of supporting the local economy by using materials that support other business and provide customers with the best solution for their problems.

All-Rite’s innovation relates to a sense of mission because by using local materials produced by local companies as well as servicing Ontario, it provides responsible consumption and production. By using local materials that have been previously recycled to make new products, this gives local opportunities to businesses as well as residents. This provides job opportunities and growth within the community by continuing the cycle of local services.

Sustainable Products for a Sustainable Future

Inspiration

The founder of All-Rite Group of Companies stated that the original idea came about through the actual innovation of the business as a whole. The owner of the company stated that the business plan was intertwined with the innovation itself. After wanting to begin a company within this industry, Liam Delaney decided that his business plan would incorporate recycled materials from Ontario based organizations. The business plan and innovation within such essentially arose at the same time and go hand in hand. The evolution of using recycled products for innovative purposes began with Liam and Barb Delaney in 1996. After leaving a previous company in the same industry, Liam wanted to ensure that he was doing the best job for his clients. By doing so, he knew that it was by providing the best quality products for his clients while still supporting the local economy around him and his business.

The motivation for this innovation came from the eagerness of the President, Liam Delaney, to create something bigger and better than he had previously seen within the industry, in an environmentally feasible way. A quote from the interview that depicts the motivation of the innovation of All-Rite Group of companies would be “Why work for someone else when you can do it for yourself and do it better. I could create a more environmentally friendly option for consumers and thought, why not?”

Overall impact

All-Rite’s innovative business plan has helped the company develop a community of Canadian businesses that support and work with one another, to reduce waste and promote Canadian innovation. The business plan designed by Liam Delaney has incorporated clean initiatives, by using recycled materials. This has provided the company with the opportunity to reduce waste generation by reusing recycled materials to custom make their own products. The company boasts a total of 80% reused steel products, which they receive from other steel manufactures contributing to their waste management.

In turn this initiative benefits society as it helps their supplier manage their waste, which provides society with a cleaner environment. This is also a benefit because it provides job opportunities for those working at All-Rite as well as their local Ontario suppliers. This benefits society as a whole because it prevents improper disposal of steel in landfills with other non-biodegradable products. This benefits both our society and environment because the more environmentally we are as a society, the more we will benefit as a society.

The short-term effects of this innovation are meeting the needs of their customer base. Most of All-Rites consumption goals are impactful in the long term. The short term is mostly focused on meeting the needs of their loyal customer base within a timely manner, and as per their request. This is an important part of ensuring All-Rite can make a difference within their community and continue to grow to improve and expand their company. The long-term effects of this innovation provide the company with a loyal supplier base as well as loyal clientele because of their rebate and community improvement programs. Another benefit is an increase in a young local workforce because of the grand employment programs. Lastly the continuous contribution to ‘going green’ and reusing all materials All-Rite acts as an inspiration for more corporations in this industry. They are able to see the success that All-Rite has had since 1996 with a responsible and innovation company and will hopefully follow in their footsteps.

Business benefit

Selling products that are manufactured with recycled materials helps reduce the All-Rite group of company’s environmental footprint. This reduction translates into fiscal growth as All-Rite’s potential customers are likely to choose a business that aligns with their environmental agenda. All-Rite is committed to being an industry leader, most companies need to understand that there is only a finite amount of resources available and it is our collective responsibility to be stewards of the earth while maintaining a profitable business. Evidence to support that the impact has occurred is the increase in All-Rites clientele and interest from environmentally conscious suppliers as well rebates supplied by the government to customers. This shows that the government has taken notice of All-Rite’s responsible consumption and production and wish to encourage and reward those who will use the program. To quote Liam Delaney “The fact that we use recyclable products is honestly one of the top selling points that our marketing team uses. So the fact that we use recyclable products actually benefits about sales”.

Social and environmental benefit

Environmentally, All-Rite creates sustainability by the constant reusing and recycling of materials provided to the consumers across Ontario. With this method, All-Rite reduces the total amount of waste accumulated into landfills across the province. Building on this, All-Rite as an employer provides a positive boost to the economy which in turn benefits society. Furthermore, All-Rite’s environmental choices such as embracing recycled materials as a main source of product allows for an increasingly healthy environment for the community to live in.
