Qiuyun had changed all packages for all product lines in 2016. The new packages are more environmentally friendly and the materials that have used to made the packages are more recyclable. Song had mentioned in the interview that “We have been always seeking for more environmentally friendly options for our products as well as the manufacturing processes. [It is] not only because the public is more concern about the environmental issues …, but also to make sure that the world in the future will be as liveable as today [’s world].” All departments of the business had worked together from market research, design and finally the production of the package, the idea of being environmentally friendly had been taken into consideration through out every process. At the end, the business had found out the most viable solution to keep the package as environmentally friendly as possible, at the same time increase the revenue of the business because the cost of the new package is actually cheaper than the old package.

Song said that “the most difficult process, after all, is to implement the change.” It is common for manufacturing company to have storage, therefore, how to digest the excess old packages became the main problem when implementing the change. Qiuyun has manufacturing plan which will be made regularly to prevent excess production and waste, therefore, there was no large amount of leftover in the first place. Qiuyun had also partnered up with Walmart to agree on letting Qiuyun use the old packages up to a certain date so that the implementation can be smoother. Because most of the old packages Qiuyun was using are recyclable, the left-over packages that no longer in use will be sell to the recycling company.

Inspiration

Song said, “The technology is changing every day; we will always be actively seeking better options and make sure we are up to date.” At the start of 2016, the business had planned to upgrade the look of all its product lines in the purpose of stimulating its sales.

Overall impact

After a year, Qiuyun had recognized the impacts that the change had on the company. The sales figure for the year had increased.
