Summary

Adam Zhang is the founder of the Shanghai STEMCLOUD Center, which is the first STEM Education platform in China. Since its inception, the center has been committed to carefully building quality STEM education. The STEM education serviced by the center aims to develop students' ability to use science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to solve practical problems.

Innovation

In China, most of the students acquire knowledge through divided curriculum, such as English, math, and physics. They are lacking the complete knowledge about how to use all of the things they learned to solve problems in their daily lives. The universal shortcoming for Chinese pupils is the lack of the ability to practice and be innovative. These kinds of courses can give students opportunities to think for themselves and do their work individually. This plays an important part in the training of students' abilities for scientific thinking methods, scientific research, and innovation. Zhang said "I benefited from STEM and ISEF, so I hope more Chinese students, especially those in small cities can also feel the magic of that."

So during his PhD studies, he devoted himself to STEM because of this hope and he also wanted to change the education landscape of China.

Overall impact

The STEMCLOUD Center has many partners and many schools in China use its courses. Also, this center is supported by the Association for Science and Technology of Shanghai, East China Normal University and universities at home and abroad. Mr. Zhang said many of their partners hope to have further cooperation with them.

Business benefit

This company sells courses and services to schools and educational institutions. Because STEM is a very hot topic in China, it has a lot of cooperative partners now. Mr. Zhang said because of their advanced educational ideas and practices in addition to a number of high-quality elite team members, their company has earned a good reputation in this field.

Social and environmental benefit

Zhang said that STEMCLOUD is not only a profitable company, but it is also for teaching students these advanced concepts and improving education throughout the country. The STEMCLOUD Center aims to help the students solve social problems by using the knowledge they have learned in the classroom and has them apply it to the real world. In other words, they help the students integrate theory with practice to improve their ability to innovate and practice on their own. Because of this, the company has received a lot of recognition and accolades from schools and the government.
